New Amsterdam Vodka, made from grains in California, is distilled five times and filtered three times. This expression was created in collaboration with the YouTube talk show, "Hot Ones," and is flavored with serrano, Fresno and habanero peppers.

Though it may clock in at only 70 proof, this vodka sure pricks the nose. Muddled peppers and pineapple play ball against a heavy whiff of nail polish remover.
Imagine taking a bite out of a raw, crunchy jalapeño — not just the pepper itself, but the pith, seeds, stem and all. This is pure vegetal punch and little else. The spice factor falls closer in line with a table hot sauce than the kind of challenge-inducing Carolina reapers and ghost peppers that one might expect from the "Hot Ones" brand.
A spicier kick creeps up on the finish, coating the back of your throat. It crescendos, then slowly subsidizes.
In sharp contrast to New Amsterdam's usual fare (brightly colored, ultra-sugary), Hot Ones Vodka is reminiscent of a DIY concoction made with a few too many peppers crammed at the bottom of a bottle. That is to say, it'll deliver exactly what you're looking for in an $11 spicy vodka. Intended for solo sipping by the fireplace, this is not.
