  • A decent amount of char and wood are also present, and the char in particular picks up on the finish, partnered with caramel swirl, coffee bean, and apple muffin.

  • Fiery, scorched grains and some creosote linger well into the finish, though the notes of orange peel, cloves, and cayenne at least give you something to cling to.

  • Gorgeous stuff. This is some of the best new rye I’ve had in a while, and it stands taller than most of the recent New Riff single barrels.

  • Nose:

Punchy on the nose. Brown sugar meets strong herbal rye with a kick of black pepper and candied ginger.

  • Taste:

Sweet on the palate, with confectioners sugar, ginger, vanilla bean, caramel candies and a touch of artificial fruit sweetness — kind of like DOTS. It's weird, but I like that note. Tons of rye spice here with black tea and tobacco.

  • Finish:

Long finish, punchy and fun. It’s rye all the way through, with tons of black tea, rye spice, candied ginger, brown sugar and maple.

  • Overall:

Gorgeous stuff. This is some of the best new rye I’ve had in a while, and it stands taller than most of the recent New Riff single barrels. Great stuff and a huge tip of the hat to High N' Wicked.
