One of three Hardin's Creek Warehouse Series releases from the James B. Beam Distilling Company in October 2025, this bourbon comes from Warehouse R, a rare single-story warehouse with no windows. To be clear, there is no sort of mushroom infusion or wacky finish going on here; each of the three releases is named after a nature tie-in, and this one is mushroom as mushrooms grow on the forest floor, similar to how this bourbon was aged on the bottom and only floor of Warehouse R. The other bourbons in the series — The Beaver and The Owl — were aged in five- and nine-story warehouses. All three bourbons are identical in mashbill, proof (110), age (11 years) and suggested retail price ($149.99).

  • Kicking off the new Hardin’s Creek Warehouse Series, Warehouse R “The Mushroom” is a straightforward pour that is hard to find fault with, except for its asking price.

  • Nose:

The Mushroom is rich, fluffy, sweet and quite beautiful on the nose. Banana bread, rice pudding, butterscotch and brown sugar are balanced by light oak, gingerbread and raisin.

  • Taste:

Moderate mouthfeel on the palate, which is highlighted by chopped peanuts, molasses, cherry, maple and ash.

  • Finish:

Black cherry leads the finish, followed by cinnamon, cherry syrup, ash and oak.

  • Overall:

A lovely, sweet bourbon filled with delightful, desserty flavors.

  • Score:

    91
