This 17-year-old expression was distilled on the same day and from the same mashbill as liquid from two other locations in the Beam production supply chain in Kentucky. As the name suggests, this was distilled at Beam's Boston facility. It's 17 years old and bottled at 55% ABV.

  • Hearty, with a touch of mint on the finish, the whiskey isn’t quite as balanced as Clermont but has more character than the more straightforward and effusive Frankfort expression.

  • Extra-aged Beam strikes again, and this expression from the Boston facility wears the big shoes set in front of it by its predecessor easily and gracefully.

  • Nose:

Oak strikes once again, layered in with rich nougat, buttercream, waffle batter and a touch of anise. Well aged, some old fruit is popping along with rich, old, funky tobacco. Hello, oak!

  • Taste:

Plenty oaky on the palate, as well, but rich and complex with plenty more going on. Sweet red berries, creamy frosting, waffle cone and a decadent mouthfeel. Rich, viscous, syrupy, all without an ABV content that will put you on the floor.

  • Finish:

Long finish. The red berries, creamy sweetness and dry oak drive from here. Pleasant oakiness doesn't leave too much tannin or bitterness, and the final note is a sweet one.

  • Overall:

Extra-aged Beam strikes again, and this expression from the Boston facility wears the big shoes set in front of it by its predecessor easily and gracefully.

  • Score:

    92
