  • Nose:

Sweet on the nose with tons of butterscotch and a really distinctive savory cheesecake note, along with candy corn, dusty oak, chocolate caramels, espresso, nutmeg and a dark fruit note, with cherry and plum.

  • Taste:

Moderate mouthfeel. Blueberry cheesecake dominates the palate, joined by espresso, cocoa, cherries, a deep maple note, clove, cracked pepper, cinnamon and cola.

  • Finish:

Long, rich finish with mocha, vanilla ice cream, blueberries, cherries and pepper.

  • Overall:

This is a lovely, distinctive and rich bourbon. Well done, Hard Truth! If this distillery wasn't on your radar as one of the up-and-coming producers to keep an eye on before, on the merits of its rye releases (it should have been), it certainly should be now!
