Hampden Estate Pure Single Jamaican Rum 8 Years is made at the historic Hampden Estate Distillery in Trelawny Parish, Jamaica. It's distilled in copper double retort pot stills and aged for 8 years in ex-bourbon casks in Jamaica's tropical climate. It's bottled at 46% ABV without any additions and sells for around $50-65.
On the palate seems more spicy. Charred oak, cocoa nibs, After Eight, Haribo gummy bears and peat smoke. Pineapple juice, cinnamon and English Breakfast tea. Just to clarify the tasting notes, this rum isn’t that sweet or even sweetened, it’s just the perceived flavours.
On the palate, fruit is present but muted, a smoldering note of cooked pineapple — more skin than meat — plus peach and almond lingering on the finish. Chewy and toasty, with a slight sesame afterimage.
