Hamilton 86 is a blend of Demerara rum sourced directly from Demerara Distillers Limited in Guyana. It includes rums aged up to five years and is bottled at 86 proof.
Not an ideal gateway rum for someone new to the category, it’s worthwhile to pull out when demonstrating the diversity of styles. Also ideal for cocktails which call for a non-overproof demerara-style rum, where it competes in the same space as the El Dorado 5 and El Dorado 8.
It stands up to just about anything you throw at it. It makes a great Rum and Cola and an even better Dark and Stormy. Most drinks that call for a dark Demerara rum will benefit from this. I think the hype around this one is justified.
