Top Notes of Covfefe is the name of an independent bottling of spirit distilled at Glenturret. This is peated distillate, and it was aged for 9 years in a recharred hogshead. It was bottled at cask strength with no coloring or filtering. I'm looking forward to diving into this one.

  • Overall, I really enjoy this. Quite good, certainly off profile and really approachable. Peated Glenturret is always such a treat.

  • Nose:

Sweet cream, caramel, fresh popcorn and Dole fruit syrup. Buttery and sweet, faintly brine forward and fruity. Some would say the nose is akin to gas, light on the diesel, though. Interesting, off profile, delicious and enticing. Faintly ashy, a with a hint of stewed fruits and hay.

  • Taste:

Medium mouth feel, a bit syrupy, coats nicely. The nose didn't obstruct the greatness of the palate, there's just as much happening here as well. Some faint ash, pepper, light wood smoke. Lots of caramel, toffee, fruit syrup. Buttery popcorn once more. Faintly meaty.

  • Finish:

Long on the finish, but elegant and sustains well. Sweet, some sesame seed, fresh baked bread, toffee and lemon poppyseed muffin. Really eclectic and strange, but I am into it. The projection of popcorn, and that toffee note through the ash is lovely. The heat carries pleasantly.
