  • In a way, Astar is the blueprint for using a really good NAS offering to entice whisky drinkers into accepting the fate of no age statements.

  • The exquisite Glenmorangie aromas and flavors—floral, with rose hips and orange blossom—are dialed up to new levels of intensity, while the voluptuous and sweet palate exudes harmony and balance.

  • Adding just a few drops of water expands the body, which without is a bit thin. A fine dram which will be a good start to the evening.

  • I’m not too much into oak-flavoured whiskies, but this one sure is one of the rather good ones. Now, it's Astar, but not quite a star.

  • Nose:

Sweet buttery bread. Apricot, lime. Faint soapstone. Rich buttercream.

  • Taste:

Medium mouth feel. Honey, apricot, fresh baked bread. Honey, some pepper. Light lactic bitterness. Heat grows with time.

  • Finish:

Short, hot and bitter. Vanilla, caramel, honey pair with the bitter, but cant overcome it. Some nice apricot character.

  • Overall:

This was nice, but again stunted by the bitterness in the base spirit.
