Glenmorangie A Tale of Ice Cream is a limited edition single malt scotch whisky with an ABV of 46.0%. It is the fifth release in the A Tale Of… series and strives to capture the flavors of an ice cream shop. This expression combines single malt aged in bourbon casks with whisky finished in toasted high-vanillin casks to enhance vanilla characteristics.
I have been a fan of their previous Tales releases, and I am a lover of ice cream as well so this release had me excited. Unfortunately those expectations fell flat on what I found to an overall bland whisky with few to no defining characteristics.
I think I might have missed that famous high-vanillin, and the ice cream even more so. Still, I find it quite enjoyable, though I believe I preferred the earlier ‘Tale’ releases.
