A re-release of an already well known product, Glenmorangie’s Quinta Ruban ups the age statement an additional two years to bring this release to 14 years of age. Bottled at 46% ABV with no coloring or filtering and surprisingly priced exactly where the old bottles were priced, this is an interesting release to say the least.
Wow, what a beautiful whisky and full tasting experience. It’s not often that the nose, palate, and finish all come together and create a perfectly balanced dram.
This Quinta Ruban succeeds the 12 year old version, adding two additional years of finishing in port casks, while maintaining the same bargain price. The result is a symphony of understated opulence

House Review
Nose:
Rich tobacco, jammy fruits, cocoa and brown butter. Malt character is there, the port isn’t overpowering. Rich and dessert forward.
Taste:
Moderate mouth feel. Faint pinprick of heat. Plenty of caramel, toffee, some Glenmorangie bitterness. A wave of juicy fruit washes in. Red berries, currants, some grape and jam.
Finish:
Short to medium finish. Rich, stewed fruits, some cocoa and toffee.
Overall:
Overall, this is pretty nice. Builds on the great blocks already laid with the original Quinta and keeps going.
