Produced in Dufftown, Scotland, Glenfiddich Our Original 12 Single Malt Scotch Whisky is aged for 12 years in American bourbon and Spanish sherry oak casks.
On the tongue, I found honeydew melon, smoke and white sugar. I did find some salt brine on the back portion of the taste. It all comes across extremely quickly and is very smooth, but the finish just simply disappears and leaves very little on the palate.
Like I say on the nose, quintessential Speyside/Highland whisky. Notes from both used casks meld sweetly at a low proof, making this an easy sipper and a great introduction to the world of unpeated Scotch.
It might be me, but it strikes me that 'Fiddich has more heft to it these days, with a sherried element giving the pear, apple, and light cereal of the distillery character a sweet, plump, sultana underpinning.
