  • The palate is broad and balanced, with real sweetness and a tongue-coating quality which softens to dried fruit, earthy density, with a whiff of smoke. Redolent with the aroma of a dunnage warehouse. A class act.

  • The feel in your mouth is Rubenesque and satisfying with a finish of more baking spices and bitter orange zest.

  • A very fine Glenfarclas, I think, but of course the distillery have many more complex expressions.

  • Stronger sherry notes build with time in glass; the finish finds this in relative balance with the barley character.

  • Look for a warm, toasted-brioche aroma and pronounced flavors of vanilla, oak, dried figs, clove and allspice.

  • It really goes to show the complexity that refill sherry can introduce to a dram.

  • Nose:

Sugary sherry, light fruit and sherry spice notes. There's a little vanilla and cream. Oddly reminiscent of the 12.

  • Taste:

Light, complex sherry fruits, some syrupy sugar and figs and plums. Mild spice.

  • Finish:

Medium. Nothing spectacular here but its still delicious. Lots of sweet sherry and a mild bit of zip and spice.

  • Overall:

Compared to the 12, this is much better but not a knock out of the park like I was expecting. I like it though, and Glenfarclas fails to disappoint again. It really goes to show the complexity that refill sherry can introduce to a dram.
