Honey, sweet sourdough, brown sugar and caramelized sugars. Rich plum, fig, stewed fruits and a touch of jammy blackberry.
Rich on the palate, packed with blackberries, cherries, stewed fruits, a touch of blueberry and bold spice. Pepper, ginger, clove, cocoa, this single cask has plenty of spice and savory cocoa to offset the jamminess. A touch of heat but nothing punishing, tons of character.
Long finish, a touch hot, but plenty flavorful. Peppery, clove forward, a touch of cherry cordial candies, toffee. The PX is pretty restrained overall, contributing and not overshadowing.
Overall this is a pretty nice single cask, with lots of character and plenty of depth for the age. Not too wine forward, and delightfully complex. Great stuff Glenallachie.
