  • Overall, having had newer batches of GlenAllachies Cask Strength before this one, it's not my cherished batch of their portfolio, but it's still a damn good Scotch. Much more nuance on this one, but as someone who enjoys the heavy sherry in other releases, it has tough work to do to overcome them.

  • Nose:

Plenty of roasty malt notes, paired with biscuits, honey, some light toffee and a hint of wine. Some fig, light berry, a hint of nuttiness.

  • Taste:

Medium viscosity on the palate, drinking a hair hot. The wine character isn't particularly prominent here, leaning heavily on malt, some toffee and clove/nutmeg notes. Drinks well, it's interesting enough, and there's this light coffee note on the back palate that I like.

  • Finish:

Long finish, here's the character I like to see. A bit more going on, the finish persists for some time and carries those dessert toffee notes, light coffee, strong malt character and some light fig to a delightful finish.
