  • It's clear they're putting some serious work into these releases, and for $40, this might just be the strongest limited edition yearly release to come out of Tennessee.

  • It takes the best parts of the previous two releases and combines them in a way that is greater than the sum of its parts. This in an excellent whiskey and is released at an unbelievable price point.

  • Roasted nuts and candied citrus give way to a briefly indulgent bit of chewy caramel and buttercream icing before balancing out on the finish with apple chips, cigar wrapper, and more of that toasty barrel char that added such a mouthwatering richness to the initial release.

  • Nose:

Bold butter toffee, sour apple, toffee and a touch of baking spice. Rising bread, nougat, sourdough, light pepper and some clove.

  • Taste:

Rich on the palate, a touch of tannin bitterness. Lemon curd, toffee, a faint touch of coffee and a rich, viscous mouthfeel.

  • Finish:

Impressively long finish, a touch bitter, but the complexity is compelling. Bold toffee, a maturity that feels improved over previous years, and a long dessert character most reminiscent of cocoa, nougat, and a PayDay bar.

  • Overall:

This is quite the dram. Easily on par with 2020, and beyond over the course of several tastings. It's clear they're putting some serious work into these releases, and for $40, this might just be the strongest limited edition yearly release to come out of Tennessee.
