Garrison Brothers Guadalupe Texas Straight Bourbon is produced at Garrison Brothers Distillery in Hye, Texas, using a mash bill of 74% corn, 15% soft red winter wheat and 11% malted barley. It is aged for four years in new American white oak barrels before spending an additional two years in tawny Port wine casks imported from Portugal. Bottled at 107 proof (53.5% ABV), it carries an MSRP of around $150.
The viscosity and sweetness are offset by the high-proof intensity, providing a uniquely pleasant mouthfeel. Notes of maple, tobacco leaf, nutmeg, and vanilla are immediately present, with raspberry making itself known shortly after and a lingering caramel-corn finish.
