Frey Ranch Single Grain Series 100% Barley Whiskey is produced at Frey Ranch Distillery in northern Nevada from a mashbill of 100% two-row unmalted barley grown on the estate. Aged 4 years and 8 months, it is bottled at 55% ABV and hosts a suggested retail price of $60.
Frey Ranch is determined to prove that great whiskey starts with great grain, and for me, this is a great example of exactly that. Perhaps my Irish roots are particularly drawn to the un-malted barley roots in this release or maybe it’s just something that’s quite different to the rest of the American whiskey landscape right now but I’ll make sure to have a bottle of this on my bar to share with friends.
