The berries and cream character is an interesting, new look from the brand who focuses on more spice driven recipes in recent years but this delicious, high proof release carries well with plenty of tannin to balance without becoming a bitter bomb.

  • I’ll never turn down Four Roses, especially for a limited offering like this one. They are experts at their craft. But it also tastes like its check engine light is going to pop on anytime. Meaning: Make sure you’ve got something to prevent overheating.

House Review
  • Nose:

    Powerful and spicy at first. Rich and floral, plenty of blackberry, toffee, a touch of butterscotch and then bold pepper and oak. Spicy!

  • Taste:

    A wallop on the palate. Rich and viscous. Drinks a touch hot. Delightfully fruity and floral, the oak is present but not overbearing. Blackberry, honey, a touch of tobacco, floral lavender, orange peel, nougat. Lots going on.

  • Finish:

    Long finish, sweet and fruit forward. Spicy with an ebb and flow, but the nougat shines through in a delightful berries and cream character.

  • Overall:

    A monster from Four Roses arrives well tuned and delicious.
