  • While this isn’t my favorite Small Batch Limited Edition release, it’s also not the worst.

  • All in all, the fruitiness of this Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch expression is just an absolute showstopper, and it immediately enters contention as one of my favorite whiskey releases of 2024 to date.

  • This is the easiest drinking Four Roses LE in years, and it's a beautiful beast compared to prior releases. That said, it's wildly different from past batches, and it took me a while to come around to this marked shift in profile. Honey and fruits lace together for a balanced, complex and bright bourbon that demonstrates their blending team's prowess, creativity and most importantly: their ability to keep us on our toes.

  • Another impeccably balanced, complex, and flavorful bourbon by Four Roses, but the price might make you second-guess it.

  • This year’s blend stands apart for its tangy, fruity character while hitting at least the same quality standards to which we’ve become accustomed.

  • Nose:

Heavy, rich fruits fill the nose, perfume-y and loaded with lemon, orange, red berries, plum, toffee and fig. Big oak, sweet cream, lavender and honey.

  • Taste:

Rich on the palate, layered and complex. Plenty of flavors here: honey, orange peel, big red berries and crisp apple. Moderate oak here — less than I anticipated but it's just right. Rich and heavy on the fruit, caramel and honey.

  • Finish:

Long finish — delicate but balanced: fruits, lavender, sweet honey, beautiful bread putting, vanilla, nougat, butterscotch and sweet oak once more.

  • Overall:

That said, it's wildly different from past batches, and it took me a while to come around to this marked shift in profile.
