  • Four Pillars Fresh Yuzu Gin is a solid, well rounded gin that blends juniper, citrus, spice and herbal notes together in a way that is elevated and delicious to drink. Perhaps my biggest critique might be that for a product branded as a “Yuzu Gin,” I expect some more clear yuzu notes.

  • Nose:

Bright lemon peel and lightly resinous, piney juniper lead into fresh notes of lemongrass and grapefruit. A prominent sweetness emerges, reminiscent of freshly pressed sugar cane juice.

  • Taste:

Vibrant and mouthwatering with a tartness that immediately engages the palate. Yuzu takes a more prominent role here, leaning toward a green grapefruit character. Juniper remains present but steps into the background. An herbal green tea note introduces a slightly bitter, herbaceous layer. The mid-palate is gently sweet with a subtle hint of candied ginger.

  • Finish:

The citrus notes linger on the palate with a pleasant, gently bitter edge.

  • Overall:

This is an excellent gin that strikes a balance between citrus brightness, gentle sweetness and subtle herbaceous complexity. The interplay of yuzu, green tea and juniper creates a distinctive profile that's both refreshing and refined. Its clean, lingering finish and vivid character make it a perfect choice for a highball.
