One of many entries to the celebrity-backed tequila canon comes courtesy of Mark Wahlberg's Flecha Azul, formally launched in 2020 alongside PGA golfer Abraham Ancer. Though Wahlberg's Boston roots may not seem like the most *obvious* fit for a tequila brand, it isn't the furthest stretch of the imagination. This particular expression is twice distilled in stainless copper stills before resting six months in ex-bourbon American White Oak barrels. Let's see if we can taste the Good Vibrations.

  • Nose:

Tropical fruit, honey, pepper and a touch of slate. Faint citrus, some light woodiness

  • Taste:

Light on the palate but pleasant. Oak, cinnamon, buttercream and a touch of caramel.

  • Finish:

Moderate finish. Ash, char, a touch of slate and some oakiness pairs with cinnamon, nutmeg and light creamy sweetness.

  • Overall:

Overall this is a fine reposado. There’s nice balance of agave and oak, although the lighter palate and shorter finish leave it less compelling than some heavier hitting reposados.
