Fin De Partie is a French single malt whisky from independent bottler Maison Benjamin Kuentz, distilled at G. Rozelieures distillery in Lorraine. It is matured in ex-cognac, bourbon, Oloroso and Pedro Jimenez casks for 6 to 9 years. The whisky is bottled at 46% ABV and sells for around $60.
On the palate there is citrus, vanilla, and spice, developing more tangy flavors of candied peels, orange buttercream, and ground pepper. As it softens, a little smoke curls around a taste of taffy candy. Hot smoke, spice, and diminishing citrus notes signify game over.
The finish remains on the tight side, focusing again on linen and floral notes — a touch of lavender in the mix. Quite feminine but evocative on the whole.
