Filmland Spirits Ryes of the Robots is a straight rye whiskey distilled in Indiana by MGP using a mashbill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley. Aged over four years in new charred oak barrels, it is bottled at 47% ABV and typically priced around $65.
The taste is peppery with touches of cinnamon and cloves, along with spearmint and dark chocolate. The finish has lingering spices and a nice oakiness.
There are no surprises in this movie, it’s a tale that’s been told a million times and in that vein, it’s not a bad thing. It’s a story we know well, we’re comfortable with, and turn to when we want something familiar and reliable.
