Filibuster Single Estate Single Barrel Bourbon is a limited-edition release made from a single farm, distillery and barrel. Bottled at 110-120 proof, it is produced at Filibuster Distillery in Maurertown, Virginia.
Honestly, for a $50ish whiskey, this is a standout. They could price it $20-30 higher and it'd still make sense. It's a little unusual, but not oddball. More like intriguing!
The palate is a bit hot up front, which is perhaps to be expected, and an initially toasty, clove-heavy character slowly gives way to notes of chocolate and almond. There’s a touch of coconut and orange peel later in the game, all of which eventually comes together in a nicely balanced way.
