  • This is really nice in a classic bourbon way. A touch on the sweet side, but a good range of fruit, caramel, and oak.

  • The taste is spicy, but still sweet with black peppercorns, allspice, honey, vanilla, molasses, brown sugar, and caramel candy. The finish is very long with lingering spices and a good underlying sweetness.

  • Palate entry is crisp, prickly; by midpalate, the flavor highlights the toasty barrel char as tastes of maple, vanilla bean and dark caramel dominate this stage. Ends fiery, grainy, but lean.

  • Nose:

Very sweet, mildly fruity and loaded with vanilla and molasses.

  • Taste:

There's some cinnamon and wood spice, followed by vanilla and a thicker buttery mouth feel. Good balance of sweet and spice, although the spice is much less prominent.

  • Finish:

Medium to short with some mild heat. Its pretty well balanced though. Maybe a little young, but not offensively so.

  • Overall:

In the end, this isn't half bad. Great nose and palate with a slightly disappointing finish, but nothing tragic.
