Once you get past the relatively shocking violet color of this spirit, you are left with a very serviceable, classic London Dry gin with a burst of floral character.
The aroma is relatively neutral and the palate is mild and malty, with hints of coriander, orris root and white pepper. But it's really all about the eye-popping blue color and all the party tricks that can be performed with this gin.
Despite the color, don’t come to Empress 1908 Gin expecting something floral or violet-flavored. This is a mixing gin with a strong emphasis on showmanship.
