Elena Spirits was founded in 2020 by Elena Penna Currado and Luca Currado Vietti, former members of the Vietti winery in Piedmont. They revived an 18th-century wood-fired still with the help of a master distiller to craft artisanal spirits that honor their family legacies. Elena Vermouth di Torino Superiore Rosso LAZ19 is made with 2019 Barolo wine from the Lazzarito Cru. Elena Spirits infuses this wine with local botanicals and herbs, including gentian from Cuneo Province and citrus from the botanical gardens of Lake Maggiore. The botanicals are extracted in a "one-shot" process to maximize intensity and aromatic qualities. The suggested retail price is $50.
