The El Tesoro Mundial Collection is a limited-edition series created by Master Distiller Carlos Camarena. This expression features El Tesoro Añejo aged for 12 months in casks that held Laphroaig 10 Year Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
All told, I had trouble deciding if I preferred this more intense, smoldering experience or the effusive, dessert-like Knob Creek expression, bouncing back and forth between the two for more than an hour. In the end, I had to decide it was all a matter of momentary mindset. You can’t go wrong either way.
A little bit of crisp agave, a little bit of an almost Mezcal vibe, and then a little spice of smoky Scotch all adds up to super interesting and just gorgeous.
