El Buho Mezcal is crafted in Oaxaca by the 6th generation Jimenez Mendez family, who use traditional methods in copper pot stills. The family, led by Octavio Jimenez Monterroza, creates each batch collectively with his children Jose Isaac, Beatriz and Octavio. This flagship expression is made using espadín agave.
Tried today, El Buho has improved with bolder flavors that come together better than they did 12 years ago. That said, the score (B+) remains the same because the bar has gone up as more quality mezcals have become available in the U.S.
