Released in February 2025, Edmond's Honor is a 4-year-old bourbon distilled from a mashbill of of 80% corn, 10% malted barley and 10% rye by an undisclosed Tennessee producer and aged in cognac casks that were seasoned with Madagascar vanilla extract for 10 weeks. The bourbon was also infused with vanilla extract, making it a flavored whiskey. This expression comes from Pronghorn, a Diageo-backed business focused on diversifying the spirits industry. Edmond's Honor is named in accordance with its vanilla influence-- after Malagasy botanist Edmond Albius, who revolutionized vanilla cultivation in the 1800s. The bourbon is priced at $54.99 per 750-milliliter bottle.

  • Surprisingly syrupy in mouthfeel and full in flavor for its low proof (probably due in part to the added vanilla), this flavored bourbon is a solid pickup for any fan of a sweet sip.

  • This is an overall easy to drink bourbon with plenty of complexity for aficionados.

  • Nose:

The nose is pleasant and balanced, chocolatey with notes of dried fruits. Chocolate-covered raisins, coffee bean, vanilla, cacao, a bit of rye spice.

  • Taste:

Moderate mouthfeel, full of flavor. Big mocha note, joined by pleasant vanilla, raisins, cherry cola, pecan pie, cinnamon.

  • Finish:

Espresso, fudge, dark cherry, vanilla, tobacco and cinnamon.

  • Overall:

Surprisingly syrupy in mouthfeel and full in flavor for its low proof (probably due in part to the added vanilla), this flavored bourbon is a solid pickup for any fan of a sweet sip. It's chocolatey, dark and sweet enough that it almost (but not quite) tastes like a non-flavored bourbon, and yet the distillate doesn't get entirely lost in the finish. It tastes on the youthful side, but the finish and vanilla are prominent enough to distract from that.
