  • Nose:

Rich, flavorful nose. Initially grain-forward, with corn and rye competing for attention: Fresh-baked cornbread meets cinnamon, pepper and some grassiness. After a while in the glass, it opens up, gaining some richness and becoming more well-rounded. A raisin note meets orange peel, crushed peanuts, plum, caramel and a pop of soda water.

  • Taste:

Great viscosity here and quite flavorful: tobacco, leather, cherry, cocoa and a big crushed peanuts note.

  • Finish:

Char and crushed peanuts kick off the finish, which continues with cocoa, peanut brittle, leather and a bit of coffee.

  • Overall:

This is a nice, tasty bourbon that strikes some rich, dark notes. The double-oaked aspect comes through pleasantly on the palate and finish, and although the pour falls a touch flat on the finish, it's still a very good bourbon.

  • Score:
