Produced by Foursquare Rum Distillery in Barbados, Doorly’s Fine Old Barbados Rum is a blend of pot and column distilled rum, aged for 14 years in ex-bourbon casks, with a portion aged in ex-madeira casks.
Doorly's 14 year is a great expression from the eponymous brand. The Madeira component is a bit too pronounced for my taste, and masks the more reliable Foursquare notes that I think would nicely balance the fruit notes a bit better
Overall I think it’s a good rum, well made, well assembled, succeeding on every level without reaching for the moon, a sipper for every occasion for any income bracket, and frankly, I believe it’s an ECS edition in all but name. I call mine “Misnomer.”
If you’re a fan of the ECS then you’re going to love this one, just be aware it’s fairly oaky. In my opinion this is one of the best non-limited edition rums on the market.
