Don Julio has expanded its tall and stout "1942" lineup with a Rosado — a riff on a reposado aged for four months in ruby port wine casks. Wine finished tequilas have been exploding in popularity as of late, and, in retrospect, it was only a matter of time before Don Julio bottled one up in a premium-priced decanter. Let's see how it compares to the pink-tinted competition.
The flavors mirror the aroma with a little red berry added to the mix. There's a light sweetness found, but the flavors finish on the bittersweet side. Overall, it's a balanced tequila with light fruity notes which don't overpower the agave. A good daytime sipper on its own and solid in a Spritz.
While there’s a gentle berry sweetness on the palate, the predominant quality remains agave-forward, touched with a lacing of nougat and sweetness driven by candied nuts [...] If you like your reposados on the more exuberant side, and plenty do, this tequila will fit the bill perfectly.

House Review
Nose:
Very sweet on the nose, packed with cotton candy, pear, gummy bears, sweet cream and some confectioners sugar.
Taste:
Thin to medium on the palate, sweet and packed with fruit juice character: pear, apple, orange, cotton candy and some light agave and smoke.
Finish:
Short finish, sweet and fruity.
Overall:
Kind of like the tutti frutti of tequila, this batch isn’t for me when it comes to Don Julio. It’s a little sweet and overly fruity in a way that’s clearly not natural.
