An odd entry from Don Julio, this is Primavera, a Reposado that's aged using orange wine casks, also known as Vino de Naranja. Let's see how this oddball release is.

Quite interesting on the nose - bursting with fruit and agave, far from meek like its unfinished cousin. Sour fruit, apples, pears, honey, white grape.
Thin on the palate but quite sweet. Light orange character, bold pepper, some honey, orange zest on the back palate. It drinks more like a fruit cordial with a touch of agave flavor rather than an agave spirit with a touch of fruit.
Short finish, agave storms in here. The sweetness and fruit retreat a bit and let a much more satisfying agave, toffee, light cinnamon and pepper profile come to life.
Overall, this isn’t great tequila, but the odd fake sweetness of 1942 fades and an interesting experience of orange wine and agave have their moment on stage. It’s not amazing, but it’s just fine, and an easy choice over normal 1942.
