  • Sweet with notes of confectioners sugar and a touch of honey. Overall, this isn’t bad, but the sweetness is a bit unbridled and it drinks very simply. The barrel has little influence, and the agave seems to ride in the backseat to sugary sweetness.

  • The tequila is full and creamy with white pepper, mint, and cinnamon joining in on the sweet caramels. There's a slickness that stays with you and helps to cushion the alcohol. The finish is long with a taste reminiscent of churros (fritters) dipped in Mexican chocolate.

  • The 1942 has a huge vanilla bite and a powerful kick of exotic spices that are hard to place. A bit vegetal on the finish, but otherwise really intriguing. Complex and curious, this is a sipping tequila that is unlike anything else I’ve tried.

  • In the 1942 the vanilla carries into the taste. 2.5 yrs in the barrel will do that for you. This has earned an eternal spot on our Best Anejos list and is one of our favorite tequilas of any variety.

  • Nose:

Rich and spritely on the nose, the agave jumps forth immediately. A touch of sour lactic acid combines with lime zest and a touch of vanilla, orange peel and slate.

  • Taste:

Odd viscosity on the palate despite a thin mouthfeel overall, sweet with notes of confectioners sugar and a touch of honey. A bit of pepper and agave but not strikingly complex.

  • Finish:

Short finish, quite sweet and a hint of cinnamon, pepper, char and melon. While these notes attempt to help balance, the sweetness is inescapable.

  • Overall:

Overall, this isn’t bad, but the sweetness is a bit unbridled and it drinks very simply. The barrel has little influence, and the agave seems to ride in the backseat to sugary sweetness, which is hard to reconcile with.
