Sweet, confectionary nose with brandied undertones. Butterscotch, praline, marzipan, cherry, fudge, plum and a touch of minerality.
Moderate mouthfeel — nice viscosity. Beautiful flavor profile. Cigar wrapper, plum, cherry, raisin, tobacco, a touch of lemon peel, cocoa, cinnamon and candied orange. Quite a bit of oak and tannin hangs around for the duration of the sip.
Some smoke and tobacco on the finish, plus butterscotch, red grape, apple, pepper, plenty of tannin and cherry candies.
A delicious flavor bomb of a whiskey that would pair beautifully with a cigar. The sweet butterscotch notes coming from the base whiskey are to die for, and they pair well with the dry and fruit-forward notes from the cask finishes. It's simultaneously sweet and savory, dry and fruit-forward. Remarkably nuanced and really just all around terrific stuff.
