Crystal Head Onyx is an agave-based vodka presented in a shiny black skull-shaped bottle. It is made with blue weber agave, sourced from a single farm in Mexico, and shipped to Canada, where it is blended with water from Newfoundland before being filtered through Herkimer diamonds. The brand was created by actor and comedian Dan Aykroyd and artist John Alexander.
It's quite a hot and acetone-like finish, making it not so pleasant as a neat sipper. But then again, no one was expecting something you drink out of a black skull to be cuddly.
In a world of anonymous vodkas distinguished only by the length of time they let the column still run, this one’s at least got a backstory that’s just as interesting as its bottle. I can’t complain about that.
