Crown Royal Cask No. 16 is a limited-edition Canadian whisky produced by the Crown Royal Distillery in Gimli, Manitoba. This 80-proof whisky is a blend of over 50 individually aged whiskies, finished in cognac casks crafted from oak sourced in France's Limousin Forest. It retails for around $1,999.99.
Very smooth, it’s a fine whisky. Crown Royal recommends it served on the rocks, but I preferred it at room temperature. The cold brought out some bitterness which I found disagreeable.
This version of Crown Royal includes whisky matured in Cognac casks, and the nose is warm and fruity with notes of plums, dried apples, honey, and ginger.
A velvety smooth whisky with notes of creamy vanilla, butterscotch, nougat, dried fruit, and gentle spice are well-defined and nicely balanced. Gently sweet, fruity finish. Crown Royal's best effort to date.
