Craigellachie 33 Years Old is a limited edition Speyside single malt from the Craigellachie Distillery, owned by John Dewar & Sons. It's bottled at 46% ABV and was released in 2017 as a travel retail exclusive with only 1,700 bottles produced.
The palate is well-rounded, like a pebble that's been shaped by a river for centuries, showcasing notes of honey, baking spice, and malted milk up front.
This is a very unusual whisky that feels almost electric on the palate. It's unconfined, compelling, and challenging, and while I don't know that it's what every luxury consumer is looking for when they spend $3,000 on a bottle of whisky, but I do know that it's an absolute pleasure to drink.
