Produced in Holland, Michigan, Coppercraft Straight Bourbon Whiskey blends 4+ year old and 9+ year old sourced bourbons. It undergoes brandy blending and proofing techniques, taking three months from barrel to bottle. With a 48.5% ABV, it is available in a 750 ml bottle for around $32.
The flavor takes a turn from there, becoming much spicier, although the corn syrup sweetness and spoonfuls of citrus, vanilla and nuts remain. These are joined by a hint of oak. The finish starts with the vanilla, which is subsumed by a spiciness that lingers on the tongue.
I get the sense that a splash of older bourbon was used to round off some of the 4 year old bourbon’s more youthful drawbacks. Apparently they didn’t use enough though, as this is underdeveloped and overpriced for what it offers right now
