Compass Box released the 25th Anniversary Edition of Flaming Heart in 2025 to mark the company’s 25 years in operation. Flaming Heart, a blended malt first launched in 2006, has reached its eighth release with this edition. The whisky combines Talisker with a selection of Islay malts, including Laphroaig aged in Marsala casks, and features Benrinnes matured in heavily toasted French oak.
The finish though is the real standout, a long, silky embrace that drizzles sweet lemon oil, clove syrup, and chocolate sauce atop a layer of nougatine and creamy campfire smoke. Exceptional stuff. A bottle of gold to celebrate this silver anniversary.
The taste has a nice balance of clove and cinnamon spices with a gentle peatiness, dried fruits, and a slightly ashy character. The finish is long and smoky with a touch of spice. Excellent!
Compass Box delivers another iteration of Flaming Heart that will be readily enjoyed by those that like peated Scotch. This is a lighter fruitier style of peated whisky that strikes a good balance of heavy smoke and other flavors. A good addition to the Compass Box line with another beautiful label from Stranger and Stranger.
