Heritage Distilling Cocoa Bomb Chocolate Whiskey is a 75-proof flavored whiskey made from the distillery’s high-corn bourbon base infused with chocolate and cane sugar.
Somewhat sweet, grainy and like a boozy version of breakfast cereal. This is well done, and an interesting iteration of what could have been a spirit more akin to an overly sugary liqueur. Try a shot of this in coffee or as a sidecar to an Old-Fashioned.
Bottling this at a higher proof may have provided slightly more heat, complexity, and adventure. Variations on the theme would be a most welcome experience. As the inaugural bottling, it is a serviceable, restrained divergence from the well-worn path.
