Clyde May's

4 Years
Aged at least 4 years, Clyde Mays rye whiskey is produced by the Conecuh Ridge Distillery. Murky labeling would have you believe it's distilled there, but the base spirit actually was distilled in Indiana, by MGP. Therefore, we once more have an Indiana rye, being bottled by this Florida operation. Bottled at 47% ABV, with non-chill filtering being noted on the labeling. Let's dive in.

Sweet and buttery, not rye like at all on the nose. Interesting.
Peanut butter candies and toffee pairs with a thin mouthfeel, honey and cream, praline and banana. Interesting fruity, fudge-y, sweet, not spicy
Short finish, a bit hot for 4 years. Not a ton going on, and while not offensive, it seems a bit meek for a rye. Sweet, toffee forward and a touch of nuttiness.
Generally unremarkable, this rye should work fine for cocktailing, although I find it to be a notable departure from MGP's house style of spice forward ryes.
