  • Clermont Steep is an enjoyable pour with potential mass appeal, and it left me curious about the depths this distillate could hit with greater age.

  • Nose:

Big caramel and praline on the nose, sweet and enticing. Toffee, a touch of malted grain and cereal, brown sugar.

  • Taste:

Moderate palate with a prickle of ethanol. Honey, praline, pepper, tobacco and some nougat. Pleasant, great structure and totally easy to drink.

  • Finish:

Long finish. This comes together nicely with nougat, toffee, vanilla bean, cream and tobacco.

  • Overall:

Lovely first release from Beam exploring the American single malt field — great start!
