Cierto Tequila has racked up a lot of acclaim since launching earlier this year (2023) — understandable, given that it's distilled under the same roof as Don Fulano, Tears of Llorona and Cimarron. This particular expression is aged for four years in French Limousin oak casks, a good deal longer than the brand's 18-month añejo. Let's see if we can taste the difference.

  • Honey, rich agave, pepper, clay, slate and some papaya. Rich and enjoyable, caramel, pepper. A lot going on.

  • Flavors of roasted pine nuts, orange and grapefruit peel and green pepper are lightly swathed in caramel, which mostly comes in toward the finish along with baking spices. A pleasing taste of buttered, roasted fresh corn (as if grilled and caramelized on a barbecue) comes in throughout the mix and into the finish.

  • Nose:

Oh its lovely on the nose, fresh baked bread, honey, lime zest, fresh sour gose and a pleasant brulee note.

  • Taste:

Honey, rich agave, pepper, clay, slate and some papaya. Rich and enjoyable, caramel, pepper. A lot going on.

  • Finish:

Long finish, full of brown sugar, sesame oil, pepper, slate, caramels and ginger.

  • Overall:

Overall, this may just be the most interesting of the recent Cierto’s passed along. The savory and sweet elements work here with the pleasant presence of oak. Nicely done.
