Cierto Tequila has racked up a lot of acclaim since launching earlier this year (2023) — understandable, given that it's distilled under the same roof as Don Fulano, Tears of Llorona and Cimarron. This particular expression is aged for four years in French Limousin oak casks, a good deal longer than the brand's 18-month añejo. Let's see if we can taste the difference.

Flavors of roasted pine nuts, orange and grapefruit peel and green pepper are lightly swathed in caramel, which mostly comes in toward the finish along with baking spices. A pleasing taste of buttered, roasted fresh corn (as if grilled and caramelized on a barbecue) comes in throughout the mix and into the finish.

House Review

Nose:
Oh its lovely on the nose, fresh baked bread, honey, lime zest, fresh sour gose and a pleasant brulee note.
Taste:
Honey, rich agave, pepper, clay, slate and some papaya. Rich and enjoyable, caramel, pepper. A lot going on.
Finish:
Long finish, full of brown sugar, sesame oil, pepper, slate, caramels and ginger.
Overall:
Overall, this may just be the most interesting of the recent Cierto’s passed along. The savory and sweet elements work here with the pleasant presence of oak. Nicely done.
