Chinaco Tequila Reposado is crafted from blue weber agave, mainly sourced from Tamaulipas, Mexico, including estate-grown plants. After 12 hours of cooking in an autoclave, the agave is crushed and shredded. Following fermentation, it's distilled in copper-lined alembic stills and aged for 30 months in ex-bourbon barrels and casks previously containing Glenlivet single malt.
The palate shows lots of vanilla—peppered with drying, spicy-hot dashes of cayenne, cinnamon and black pepper—and smoothed by a hint of tropical fruit on the finish.
Butterscotch notes are pungent on the nose, and rather at odds with grittier aromas of hops and asphalt. Much the same impacts the palate, where pepper and beef jerky temper the sweetness, in fitful fashion.
