Chicken Cock Wheated Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is distilled at Bardstown Bourbon Company and aged for a minimum of 5 years. It uses a wheated mash bill of 68% corn, 20% wheat and 12% malted barley, replacing the traditional rye with wheat for a softer profile. The whiskey rests at 47% ABV and sells for around $54.99 for a 750ml bottle.

The nose is sweet, simple and vaguely starchy. French toast, vanilla, cornbread and cherry.
Moderate viscosity on the palate, which is quite tasty. Vanilla cupcake frosting and buttered French bread meet on a profile that’s quite jammy; strawberry jelly and syrupy cherry lead the way.
The finish opens with milk chocolate-covered almonds and espresso beans, sprinkles in some tobacco and a dusting of cinnamon and then settles on a profile of black cherry and flan.
Not the most complex bourbon on the block, but I really like it. It’s sweet, soft and (not a fan of this word when describing whiskeys, but it undoubtedly is) smooth.
