Chemist American Gin is crafted in Asheville, North Carolina, using local botanicals and vapor infusion. Distilled from grain, this 90-proof gin features juniper, orange, rose, lemon and grapefruit.
Overall, this is quite nice. I like the unique expression of the floral character on the nose, but found the finish a little one noted. This is the first of several Chemist expressions I have here to review, so Im looking forward to seeing how each of the rest goes.
Chemist South Slope Gin is a delightful citrus-forward contemporary style gin. People who don’t like this gin will say that “it’s a bit light on the juniper.” While that’s true, fans of contemporary style-gin will love the bright flavors, balanced complexity, and clear accessible approach.

House Review
Nose:
Sweet and floral with quite a bit of character. Honey, lavender, perfume, sweet juniper and a hint of pepper.
Taste:
Rich on the palate, nice depth and body. Coats nicely, sweet cream and honey, faint berries, a bit of floral character. Lavender, juniper, coriander plan nicely. Rich mouth feel, proof carries nicely.
Finish:
Short to medium finish, a faint touch of heat. More savory and floral here on the finish, compared to a bright and fruity nose. A hair bitter, but nothing distracting.
Overall:
Overall, this is quite nice. I like the unique expression of the floral character on the nose, but found the finish a little one noted. This is the first of several Chemist expressions I have here to review, so Im looking forward to seeing how each of the rest goes.
