Casa Obsidiana Reposado is a tequila made from 100% Blue Weber agave and produced at Tierra de Agaves (NOM 1513) in Jalisco, Mexico. It is aged four months in French oak Chardonnay barrels, bottled at 40% ABV and typically retails for about $250.
Butterscotch nose overlaying a baked agave base. Hints of lemon custard add a citrus note. Quite round entry on the palate, with a creaminiess and mellow oaken flavor.
The palate I found curious. Surprisingly hearty compared to the blanco, the agave’s herbal qualities become more persistent here, with a stronger punch of pepper, some jalapeno, and an edge of greenery.
